Fuikdag in Fuik Bay

A free, boat-based New Year celebration in Fuik Bay on Curacao's southeastern coast, held the first Sunday of the year, where yachts, sailboats and other vessels gather decorated for a floating party with no entrance fee and no restriction on bringing your own food and drink aboard.

Fuik means fishing net in Papiamentu, and Fuikbaai takes its name from the bay's elongated, net-like shape, a fitting origin for what has grown from a small 1960s gathering of Curacao Yacht Club members into one of the largest floating parties in the Caribbean.
