Flag Day Cultural Celebrations in Willemstad/national
Curacao's national Flag Day, held every second of July to mark the flag's first hoisting in 1984, with free open-air concerts, folklore performances and food centred on Brionplein and the village of Barber, and the blue-and-yellow flag appearing everywhere across the island. Admission to the open-air concerts and folklore programming is free island-wide.
Two horizontal blue bands split by a yellow stripe and two white stars, one for Curacao and one for its little sister island, have flown as the island's official flag since its first hoisting in 1984, and Dia di Bandera, Flag Day, marks that anniversary every second of July with free open-air concerts, folklore performances and food across the island rather than a single fixed event site.
