Ayia Napa Medieval Festival in Ayia Napa
Ayia Napa's Medieval Festival runs eight days each October around the town's genuine circa-1500 monastery, with street theatre, music, dance and craft demonstrations including pottery and basketry, plus a medieval-style market. Running since 2006 with troupes from across a dozen European countries, it has grown into one of Europe's largest and longest-running medieval festivals.
A monastery dating to around 1500 AD, still standing at the centre of modern Ayia Napa, provides the historically authentic backdrop for a Medieval Festival that has run every October since its first staging in 2006, an eight-day programme that makes it one of the longest continuously running festivals of its kind anywhere in Europe.
