Pedoulas Cherry Festival in Pedoulas
Pedoulas, the leading cherry producer in the Marathasa Valley at 1,100 metres below Mount Olympus, holds a two-day Cherry Festival each June drawing more than ten thousand visitors for orchard walks, culinary demonstrations and masterclasses, market stalls selling local wine, soutzoukos, zivania and honey, children's activities, and live music and dancing.
Cherry orchards ripening at 1,100 metres in the Marathasa Valley, tucked into the foothills of Paphos Forest below Mount Olympus's slopes, give Pedoulas one of Cyprus's rarest agricultural specialities, and the village's two-day Cherry Festival, usually held in June as the harvest peaks, draws more than ten thousand people specifically to celebrate it.
