Golden Spike Ostrava in Ostrava
Golden Spike Ostrava has run at the Mestsky Stadion in Ostrava-Vitkovice since 1961, hosting athletes including Alberto Juantorena, Sebastian Coe, Marita Koch, Steve Cram and Marion Jones, who flew from the United States to win the 200 metres in 2002. After a gap in 1999 due to lost sponsorship, the meeting was revived in 2000 and now holds World Athletics Continental Tour Gold status, the tier immediately below the Diamond League.
Golden Spike Ostrava was first organised in 1961 at the Mestsky Stadion in Ostrava-Vitkovice, and across more than six decades since, it has hosted a genuine roll call of track and field's biggest names, including Alberto Juantorena, Sebastian Coe, Marita Koch and Steve Cram in earlier eras, and Marion Jones, who flew from the United States specifically to compete in and win the 200 metres in 2002.
