The story

Bohemia JazzFest in Prague/Plzen/Brno and others

Bohemia JazzFest, founded in 2005 by guitarist Rudy Linka, opens each July on Prague's Old Town Square before touring free open-air concerts through historic squares in cities across the Czech Republic, finishing in Ceske Budejovice. By 2010 it was already drawing more than seventy thousand fans nationwide, and Downbeat magazine has ranked it among the world's significant cultural events.

Bohemia JazzFest was founded in 2005 by Rudy Linka, a Czech-born jazz guitarist who splits his time between New York and his home country, built on a simple but unusual model: every concert, in every city, is free.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Free admission across every concert in every city is the festival's defining and unusual feature for an event of this international calibre

02

The mystery stays covered

most festivals drawing comparable names charge for tickets, while Bohemia JazzFest has built its identity and its crowds on removing that barrier entirely

03

The city starts moving

Performing the same touring lineup across a sequence of historic town squares, rather than one fixed venue, lets a single roster of major international jazz musicians reach audiences in multiple Czech cities within a single July

04

The water draws everyone in

Recognition from Downbeat magazine as one of the world's significant cultural events is a rare distinction for a Central European open-air festival built on free public concerts rather than ticketed programming

Safety

Keep phone power, water, and a clear meeting point sorted before the main crowd arrives.
