Prague Spring International Music Festival in Prague
Prague's flagship classical music festival opens every edition on May 12th, the anniversary of Bedrich Smetana's death, with a performance of his symphonic cycle Ma Vlast, a tradition running since 1952. Founded in 1946 under conductor Rafael Kubelik, the roughly three-week festival fills the Rudolfinum, the Municipal House and other historic Prague concert halls with international and Czech orchestras, ensembles and soloists.
The Prague Spring International Music Festival opens each edition on the same date and with the same piece: May 12th, the anniversary of Bedrich Smetana's death, with a performance of his symphonic cycle Ma Vlast, a tradition maintained since 1952.
