Aarhus University Boat Race in Aarhus
The Aarhus University Boat Race, known as Kapsejladsen, began in 1991 as a rivalry between medical and dentistry students racing homemade craft across a lake in the university park. Now considered Northern Europe's largest student-run event, it pits twelve mixed-gender departmental teams against each other in self-built inflatable boats, with a beer-drinking and bottle-spinning relay at each shore.
The Aarhus University Boat Race, known locally as Kapsejladsen, began in 1991 when members of two rival student organizations, Umbilicus and Apollonia, representing medical and dentistry students, raced homemade craft across a lake in the university park.
