The story

Wonderfestiwall in Bornholm

Wonderfestiwall began in 2008 as a pallet-stage garden party of eight friends at Allinge Rogeri on Bornholm, drawing around 200 people, and has grown into the island's largest music festival, now staged across two stages at Slotslyngen near the ruins of Hammershus castle each August. Every year since the first edition, volunteers have joined the crowd on stage to sing the Oasis song Wonderwall, the source of the festival's name, an unbroken founding tradition.

Eight friends aged somewhere in their late teens to mid-twenties built the first stage for what became Wonderfestiwall out of wooden pallets at Allinge Rogeri in 2008, drawing around 200 people to what was essentially an extended group of friends' private party rather than a public festival, and every year since, the same core tradition has continued: a chosen group of longtime volunteers joins the crowd on stage to sing Wonderwall, the 1995 Oasis song that gave the festival its name, a ritual that has run unbroken since the very first edition.

The mystery stays covered

Its setting at Slotslyngen, close to the ruins of Hammershus, one of Northern Europe's largest medieval castle ruins, gives a relatively new festival, founded from a pallet-built stage and 200 friends, a historic backdrop that most young festivals anywhere could not access
