Rebild Festival

Rebild Festival has marked American Independence Day nearly every July 4 since 1912, pausing only during the two world wars and the COVID-19 pandemic, and stands as the largest Fourth of July celebration held anywhere outside the United States. Held in the heather-covered hills of Rebild National Park, purchased by Danish-American immigrant Max Henius specifically for this purpose within Rold Forest, Denmark's largest forest, the festival honours the more than 300,000 Danish immigrants who left for America around the turn of the twentieth century.

Danish immigrant Max Henius raised funds among fellow Danish-Americans to purchase two hundred acres of heather-covered hills within Rold Forest, Denmark's largest forest, specifically to create a permanent site for an annual Fourth of July gathering, and since the first celebration in 1912, Rebild Festival has run nearly every year since, pausing only during the two world wars and the COVID-19 pandemic, making it the largest celebration of American Independence Day held anywhere outside the United States.
