Fest'Horn in Djibouti City
Fest'Horn is a regional music festival staged over roughly six days each December in Djibouti City, created to redirect international attention toward the Horn of Africa's musical culture beyond crisis-focused news coverage. Now past its tenth edition, it draws musicians from Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen, Kenya and Djibouti across genres from hip-hop and reggae to Afrobeat and traditional music, alongside art exhibitions, drumming circles and storytelling workshops.
Fest'Horn was created specifically to redirect international attention toward the Horn of Africa's musical culture, a region whose global image has been shaped disproportionately by coverage of war, famine and other crises rather than its artistic output, and the festival has reached at least a tenth edition, giving it a genuine multi-year track record rather than a one-off cultural initiative.
