Cadence-Lypso Tribute Festival, organized by the Dominica Festivals Commission each October in Roseau, honors the music genre pioneered in the 1970s by Gordon Henderson and his band Exile One. A fusion of Haitian cadence rampa with jazz, blues and Trinidadian calypso, cadence-lypso became the first Dominican music style to achieve international acclaim and directly influenced the development of soca and zouk.
