Cayambe's Inti Raymi centers on the aruchico, a costumed dancer in goat-leather chaps, bells and a metal mask performing circular group dances that fuse Inca-era solar thanksgiving with the Catholic feast of San Juan, San Pedro and San Pablo. Running mainly from June 21 to 29 with a secondary round in early August, it is widely regarded as Ecuador's most prominent Inti Raymi staging.
