Ecuador Jazz Festival in Quito
Ecuador Jazz, organized by the Fundacion Teatro Nacional Sucre, grew out of a 2004 merger of a formal international concert series and an open-air event called Jazz In Situ, and has run for more than two decades since. The festival combines ticketed evening concerts with free jam sessions, workshops and academic encounters, drawing touring international acts alongside Ecuadorian musicians.
Ecuador Jazz began in 2004 as a merger of two earlier, smaller events: a more formal international concert series also called Ecuador Jazz, and Jazz In Situ, which staged music in open public spaces and mixed the genre with other styles.
