Cairo Jazz Festival in Cairo
Cairo Jazz Festival, founded in 2009 by keyboardist Amro Salah on a shoestring budget, has grown into one of the region's established international jazz gatherings. Its main stages sit in Al-Azhar Park's landscaped gardens overlooking old Cairo, with after-hours sets at Cairo Jazz Club and additional programming at the Darb 1718 arts centre.
Cairo Jazz Festival began in 2009 when keyboardist Amro Salah organised the first edition on a budget of roughly nine thousand Egyptian pounds, a modest start for an event that has since grown into one of the region's more established international jazz gatherings.
