Citadel Festival for Music and Singing in Cairo
Held inside the medieval Citadel of Cairo since its 1990 founding, Salah El-Din Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing stages two concerts nightly across roughly two to three weeks each August. Programming spans independent Egyptian music, Sufi chanting, jazz, classical repertoire and pop within the same historic fortress setting.
Salah El-Din Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing was founded in 1990 and is staged inside the Citadel of Cairo, the medieval Ayyubid fortress built by Salah El-Din in the twelfth century that still dominates Cairo's skyline above the Islamic quarter.
