Hiiu Folk in Hiiumaa
Hiiu Folk is Estonia's only alcohol-free music festival, held each July across open-air venues on Hiiumaa island, including the Kassari swing site. The programme centers on Estonian folk and roots music, workshops on traditional instruments and dance, and a closing Church Day of concerts inside Hiiumaa's chapels. Its family-first, sober atmosphere sets it apart from Estonia's larger summer festival circuit.
Hiiu Folk banned alcohol from its own grounds in 2007, and that single decision has shaped everything about the festival since: it remains the only alcohol-free music festival in Estonia, built around families, quiet forest paths and an audience that includes children and grandparents rather than a typical festival crowd.
