The story

Simple Session in Tallinn

An indoor BMX and skateboarding competition that draws top international riders to Tallinn for a weekend of judged street, park and vert runs. Loud music, big-air tricks and a young, engaged crowd give the arena more of a concert feel than a typical sports venue. Now in its third decade, it remains one of the Baltic region's most prominent action-sports fixtures, with prize money and standings that matter across the global scene.

Simple Session began in 2000 as the Pepsi Street Challenge, a single day of BMX, skateboarding and inline competition at the newly built Simpel skatepark in Tartu's Tahtvere district.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The competition's biggest draw is watching elite BMX and skateboarding athletes attack technical ramp and street setups built specifically for the event, with judging happening live in front of a packed, vocal crowd rather than on a delayed broadcast

02

The mystery stays covered

Editions have used unusual venues, including a converted rubber-boot factory for a stretch of summer instalments, giving the event a rougher, more festival-like energy than a typical arena contest

03

The city starts moving

Because it grew out of a homegrown Estonian skatepark competition rather than a franchised international series, local riders and organizers still shape the format, the course design and the after-parties, giving visitors a genuine slice of the country's action-sports culture rather than an imported spectacle

Getting around

For Simple Session, plan transport around the exact Tallinn venue, route or gathering point rather than the city name alone.

What to wear

No formal dress code; this is a general-admission arena crowd. Wear whatever suits standing for hours on a hard floor, and expect the venue to run warm once it fills up, so light layers work...

Safety

Keep valuables light, follow local instructions, and watch how residents use the space before joining in.
