Irreecha Hora Finfinnee in Addis Ababa/Hora Finfinnee
Hora Finfinnee, a lake near Addis Ababa whose name is the original Oromo name for the capital itself, is one of the two principal Irreecha gathering sites, alongside Bishoftu's Hora Harsadi. Oromo participants carry grass and flowers to the water's edge for a blessing ritual thanking Waaqa for the harvest, in a staging carrying particular resonance given the site's Oromo historical ties to Addis Ababa.
Irreecha matters because it is both thanksgiving and cultural affirmation, carrying Oromo identity, memory and hope into public view.
