G! Festival, launched in 2002 by members of the Faroese band Clickhaze and the Gøta-based musicians' association Tónleikasamtakið GRÓT, has grown from roughly 800 attendees to about 5,500, making it one of the Faroe Islands' two largest music festivals alongside Klaksvík's Summarfestivalurin. Staged in the seaside village of Syðrugøta on Eysturoy in mid-to-late July, it sets Faroese and international acts against a natural amphitheater of grass-covered mountains and sea cliffs.
