Lahti Ski Games, first held in 1923, a year before the first official Winter Olympics, is Finland's longest continuously organized sports event and one of the world's oldest prestigious Nordic skiing competitions. Held on the distinctive Salpausselka ridges, a kettle-hole landscape formed roughly twelve thousand years ago, the Games combine ski jumping and cross-country skiing on ground that has hosted the event for over a century.
The Lahti Ski Games, held for the first time on 3 and 4 February 1923, predate the first official Winter Olympics by a full year, making the event the longest continuously organized sports competition in Finland and one of the oldest and most prestigious Nordic skiing competitions anywhere in the world.
