Shuamtoba in Omalo/Tusheti
Shuamtoba, also known as Shepherd's Day or Tushetoba, celebrates the summer return of shepherds to highland pastures in Tusheti, Georgia, centered on the village of Omalo. Part of the roving Atnigenoba festival cycle across Tusheti and Khevsureti villages through July and August, it features feasting, singing, brewed Tush beer, and visitor activities including horse riding and khinkali-making.
Each summer, the village of Omalo, the center of the remote Tusheti region in the Georgian highlands, marks Shuamtoba, also known as Shepherd's Day or Tushetoba, a celebration tied directly to the region's pastoral calendar.
