Splash Festival in Ferropolis
Splash! began in 1998 in Chemnitz as a hip-hop and reggae festival and relocated in 2009 to Ferropolis, a former lignite mining site on Gremminer Lake where five preserved bucket-wheel excavators, the source of the site's City of Iron name, tower over the festival grounds. Now one of Europe's largest hip-hop and reggae festivals, it draws artists and attendees from across Germany and neighbouring countries to stages set among the excavators.
