Parookaville in Weeze
Parookaville launched in 2015 at Weeze Airport, a former British air base, drawing 25,000 attendees to its first edition, and has grown into Germany's largest electronic dance music festival, selling out at around 225,000 across three days. The festival builds an entire functioning fictional city on the airport grounds, complete with a town hall, chapel, jail and post office, governed under the mythology of fictional founder Bill Parooka.
Three organisers from Weeze founded Parookaville in 2015, staging a first edition at Weeze Airport, a former British Royal Air Force base in North Rhine-Westphalia, that drew twenty-five thousand attendees over three days with around eighty international DJs across multiple stages.
