Asafotufiami Festival in Ada

Asafotufiami, held the first week of August in Ada, means divisional firing of musketry in Dangme and reenacts the historical welcome given to warriors returning from eighteenth- and nineteenth-century conflicts including the 1826 Katamanso War. Ada's two Asafo companies, Akomfode and Asorkor, stage mock battles and musket volleys while initiating young men into traditional warfare training.
