Odwira Festival Akim in Akim/Akyem traditional areas
Akyem Abuakwa's own Odwira, called Odwira Kese, follows the same purification and ancestor-honoring format as Akuapem's festival but is held only every five to ten years, at the Okyeman Council's discretion, centered on the paramount Okyenhene stool based at Kyebi rather than on an annual calendar.
Akyem Abuakwa's Odwira is the same purification tradition found in Akropong, ancestor veneration, ritual cleansing of the state stool and thanksgiving for the harvest, but it runs on a very different clock.
