Azambene is the ancestral fire festival of the Bongo Traditional Area near Bolgatanga, in Ghana's Upper East Region, commemorating the Mamprusi ancestors' migration from Nalerigu and their use of fire torches to found the settlement at Abongin. A grand durbar of chiefs and queen mothers combines the historical remembrance with harvest thanksgiving, family reunions, and public discussion of local environmental and social issues.
