Oguaa Traditional Durbar in Cape Coast

Cape Coast's grand traditional durbar is the climax of Fetu Afahye, when the Oguaa Traditional Area's paramount chief and sub-chiefs process to the durbar grounds behind seven Asafo companies marching under their own flags. Held on the first Saturday of September, it combines thanksgiving for the sea harvest with a formal review of the chieftaincy's affairs.

Cape Coast's Fetu Afahye reaches its climax on the first Saturday of September, when the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area and his sub-chiefs are carried in palanquins to the durbar grounds under state umbrellas, flanked by horn-blowers, sword-bearers and linguists.
