Sasadu Festival in Saviefe/Akoefe/Sovie/Alavanyo

Sasadu Festival unites the Ewe communities of Saviefe, Akrofu, Sovie and Alavanyo in the Hohoe Municipality, rotating annually among the four towns each October. Founded in 1949 by G.N.K. Tsekpo and fellow organisers as the public expression of a formal development union, the festival combines a grand chiefs' durbar with practical work on community development and dispute resolution among towns sharing a Notsie migration history.

Sasadu Festival takes its name from an acronym: Saviefe, Akrofu, Sovie and Alavanyo, four Ewe communities in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region that formed the Saviefe-Akrofu-Sovie-Alavanyo Development Union in 1949 specifically to keep their historic ties active despite being geographically dispersed across roughly nineteen constituent townships.
