The story

Rockwave Festival in Malakasa

Rockwave Festival has run since 1996 and found its permanent home in 2004 at Terra Vibe Park, a purpose-built forty-acre site in Malakasa about 37 kilometres north of Athens. Over three decades it has hosted more than three hundred artists, including Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses and Black Sabbath, making it Greece's longest-running major rock and metal festival.

Rockwave Festival spent its first eight years without a permanent home, moving between beaches, ports and stadiums across Greece until Terra Vibe Park opened in Malakasa in 2004 and gave the festival, and Greek rock fans, a fixed address.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes Rockwave from newer Greek festivals is its purpose-built permanent venue: Terra Vibe Park was constructed specifically for the festival in 2004, with a roughly 600-square-metre stage, camping space for about 15,000 people and bungee-jumping towers built into the site rather than added temporarily each year

02

The mystery stays covered

Combined with more than three hundred artists across three decades, including Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses and Black Sabbath, that permanence gives Rockwave an infrastructure and lineup history unmatched by festivals still rotating between temporary sites
