Fete de la Musique Bissau in Bissau
Each June 21, Bissau's Centre Culturel Franco-Bissau-Guineen hosts a local edition of Fete de la Musique, the free international music-day founded in France in 1982. Organized with the Direcao-Geral da Cultura, the evening centers on young Guinea-Bissauan performers rather than touring headliners, giving emerging local singers and bands a public stage. It is one of the few dates in Bissau's calendar with a fixed, internationally shared theme.
On June 21 each year, the Centre Culturel Franco-Bissau-Guineen on Praca Che Guevara in downtown Bissau opens its stage for Fete de la Musique, the global music-day event founded in France in 1982 and now marked on the same date across five continents.
