Budapest Ritmo in Budapest

An April world-music festival born from Budapest hosting the WOMEX industry fair in 2015, combining daytime showcase concerts at the House of Music Hungary with evening headline shows at Akvarium Klub, drawing performers from over twenty countries. Several acts booked through the festival's showcase sessions have gone on to international touring afterward.

Hangveto, a Hungarian organization that had spent years booking world and folk music at the Valley of Arts festival in Kapolcs, brought WOMEX, the world's largest world-music industry trade fair, to Budapest in 2015, and the connections built through that event fed directly into launching Budapest Ritmo the following year.
