Budapest Spring Festival in Budapest
Established in 1981 by tourism official Lengyel Marton and cultural manager Lengyel Kiss Imre, the Budapest Spring Festival runs each late March into early April, bringing together roughly seventy cultural institutions, now coordinated by Budapest Brand Nonprofit Zrt, across venues including Mupa Budapest and the Hungarian State Opera House for around one hundred fifty programs spanning classical music, opera, jazz and dance.
Established in 1981 through the initiative of Lengyel Marton, then deputy head of Hungary's National Tourism Office, working with cultural manager Lengyel Kiss Imre of the Tourism and Propaganda Publishing House, the Budapest Spring Festival is one of Hungary's longest-running cultural events, held every year in late March and early April and bringing together dozens of the city's cultural institutions under a single citywide program.
