Kurultaj Hungarian Tribal Assembly in Bugac

Held every other year at Bugac puszta since a 2008 debut inspired by a Kazakh gathering, Kurultaj assembles horseback archers, wrestlers, and armored riders alongside delegations from over twenty-five Turkic nations for Hungary's largest heritage festival of its kind. An entire temporary yurt city is assembled specifically for the gathering's few days each edition.

A Hungarian delegation's participation in a Kazakh gathering called Kurultaj in Saga in 2007 inspired the first Hungarian edition the following year at Bosztorpuszta, and in 2009 organizers formalized the effort by establishing the Hungarian Turan Foundation, which has run the event ever since alongside the Hungarian Turan Association, with anthropologist Andras Zsolt Biro among its key organizing figures.
