Aldrei for eg Sudur in Isafjordur
Founded in 2004 by musician Mugison and his father Gudmundur Kristjansson, this free, volunteer-run rock festival takes place every Easter in the remote Westfjords town of Isafjordur. Its name, I Never Went South, is a pointed jab at Iceland's centralization around Reykjavik, and domestic bands perform without payment across a multi-day, no-entry-fee weekend.
Musician Mugison and his father Gudmundur Kristjansson came up with the idea for Aldrei For Eg Sudur after Mugison played a festival in London in 2003 and returned home wanting something similar for his own remote hometown, and the pair launched the first edition in Isafjordur in 2004.
