Reykjavik Early Music Festival in Reykjavík
Launched in March 2024 at Harpa Concert Hall under artistic director Elfa Run Kristinsdottir, this is the first international early music festival based in Reykjavik. Concerts in Harpa's Nordurljos Hall cover repertoire from the fifteenth century through Mendelssohn and Schumann, alongside Nordic and European folk traditions, with a children's program included from its earliest editions.
The Reykjavik Early Music Festival held its first edition in March 2024 inside Harpa Concert Hall, becoming the first international early music festival based in the Icelandic capital and filling a gap in a music scene that already supported contemporary and pop festivals but had no dedicated home for baroque and pre-classical repertoire.
