Ziro Festival of Music in Ziro
Founded in 2012 by musician Anup Kutty and promoter Bobby Hano, the Ziro Festival of Music sets an independent-music lineup inside the terraced rice paddies of Arunachal Pradesh's Apatani valley. Held over four days each September at roughly 5,500 feet, it caps attendance near 10,000, bans single-use plastic, and pairs Northeast Indian bands with touring international acts on locally built bamboo stages.
Guitarist Anup Kutty of the Shillong band Menwhopause and promoter Bobby Hano launched the Ziro Festival of Music in 2012, choosing a valley of terraced rice paddies belonging to the Apatani people rather than a conventional venue.
