Dieng Culture Festival in Dieng
Dieng Culture Festival, founded in 2010 in Dieng Kulon village on the Dieng Plateau, centers on ruwatan rambut gimbal, the mass cutting of children's naturally matted hair, recognized as Indonesian Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. Held in late July or August, it coincides with embun upas, a rare ground-level frost, alongside cultural performances and a plateau jazz program.
Dieng Kulon village, in Wonosobo Regency's Kejajar district on the Dieng Plateau, has hosted its Culture Festival each year since 2010, when Pokdarwis Dieng Pandawa and CV Equator Sinergi Indonesia built the event out of an earlier, smaller Pekan Budaya Dieng gathering.
