Lake Limboto Festival in Gorontalo
Festival Pesona Danau Limboto, first held in 2011 and part of Indonesia's national tourism calendar since 2017, centers on Lake Limboto in Gorontalo, a lake suffering severe sedimentation and shrinkage. Programming includes alanggaya traditional kite competitions, a decorated-boat carnival, a songbird competition, a fish-based culinary festival, a Gemilang Run, and named local intangible-heritage art forms, all tied to an explicit lake-restoration advocacy purpose.
Festival Pesona Danau Limboto first ran in 2011 and joined Indonesia's national Kharisma Event Nusantara tourism calendar from 2017 onward, organized around Lake Limboto in Gorontalo province, a lake that has suffered severe sedimentation and shrinkage over recent decades.
