Twice daily, tidal forces push a wave up the Kampar River near Teluk Meranti village that can reach four to five meters in height and travel more than fifty kilometers upstream, a natural phenomenon called the bono that has made this stretch of river one of the very few tidal-bore surfing spots on Earth.
