Tanjung Waka Festival in Sula Islands
Tanjung Waka Festival began as a grassroots village celebration around 2016 in Fatkauyon Village, Sula Islands, North Maluku, formalized into a public event around 2021 to 2022. Held in mid-December, it received a MURI national record and a top-ten Kharisma Event Nusantara ranking for 2024, built around an edu-ecotourism and green-event concept emphasizing local community participation over commercial tourism spectacle.
Fatkauyon Village, in the East Sulabesi District of the Sula Islands Regency in North Maluku, began an informal grassroots community celebration at Tanjung Waka Beach around 2016, which local government later formalized into a structured public event, with the first clearly documented officially promoted edition appearing around 2021 to 2022.
