Kish Island Nowruz Festival in Kish Island
Kish Island, a free-trade resort island in the Persian Gulf, becomes one of Iran's busiest Nowruz destinations during the two-week new year holiday, with concerts, markets and beachfront events drawing large numbers of domestic tourists to its shopping centers and coastline.
Kish Island occupies a small stretch of the Persian Gulf off Iran's southern coast, a 91.5-square-kilometer island whose modern identity has been built almost entirely around its status as a free-trade zone.
