Fajr International Theater Festival in Tehran

Iran's oldest state-run theater festival fills the Tehran City Theater complex each February during the Ten Days of Dawn marking the 1979 revolution's anniversary, staging competitive Persian-language productions judged across acting, directing, and playwriting, alongside street theater and radio drama, plus an international slate added when the event was reorganized as a global competition in 1995.

Iran's national theater festival opened for its first edition across eleven days in February 1983, a year after a preliminary tryout tested the format in 1982.
