Sadeh Fire Festival in Yazd/Kerman
A mid-winter Zoroastrian fire festival held fifty days before Nowruz, commemorating the mythical king Hushang's discovery of fire. Communities build a large bonfire at dusk, historically at a fire temple, with prayer, music, and shared food, distinct from Chaharshanbe Suri's individual fire-jumping, which falls much later, on the eve before Nowruz itself.
Sadeh falls fifty days before Nowruz, on the tenth of the Persian month of Bahman, placing it in mid-winter rather than in the spring-equinox cluster of Nowruz-season festivals.
