Erbil International Theatre Festival in Erbil

An annual theater festival in Erbil, organized by the city's Directorate of Theater Arts with Kurdistan Regional Government backing since 2011, bringing Arab and international theater companies to perform alongside Kurdish and Iraqi troupes. Recent editions have hosted about ten groups from countries including Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, and Turkey over a multi-day program of daily productions and post-show discussions.

The Directorate of Theater Arts in Erbil launched the first Erbil International Theater Festival in September 2011, running the inaugural edition from the 18th to the 24th of that month with backing from the Kurdistan Regional Government's cultural ministry.
