Dublin's May contemporary dance festival, founded in 2002 as International Dance Festival Ireland and renamed Dublin Dance Festival in 2007 when it also shifted from biennial to annual, presenting Irish and international dance across venues including the Abbey and Samuel Beckett Theatre. presenting contemporary dance from Irish and international artists alongside workshops, talks, screenings, and occasional site-specific works each May.
Founded in 2002 under the name International Dance Festival Ireland by its first artistic director Catherine Nunes, this event was renamed Dublin Dance Festival in 2007 under subsequent director Laurie Uprichard and shifted from a biennial to an annual schedule beginning the following year, a documented double transition in both branding and frequency within its first decade.
