Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival in Abu Ghosh
Inaugurated in 1957 after Felix Zolmann discovered the acoustics of a Crusader-era church in Abu Ghosh, this vocal music festival ran each spring until 1971, then returned in 1992 with an added autumn session timed to Sukkot and Shavuot. Choirs and vocal ensembles perform early, Baroque and contemporary choral works inside the church itself.
Felix Zolmann, a pharmacology professor and devoted amateur musician, discovered the acoustics of the Crusader-era church atop the hill in Abu Ghosh and began bringing pianist and conductor Zigi Shtaderman there to play.
