The Israeli Opera stages an annual production inside the Hospitaller Fortress of Old Acre, a complex of Crusader-era vaulted stone halls now known as the Knights' Halls, treating the medieval architecture as part of the performance itself. The UNESCO-listed old city also hosts other events in the same complex, including the long-running Sukkot-season Fringe Theatre Festival.
