Karmiel Dance Festival in Karmiel
Founded in 1988 by Tirza Hodes and Yonatan Karmon at the invitation of Karmiel's first mayor, this three-night July festival has grown into Israel's largest dance event. Its nightly harkada draws thousands of participants led by over 150 instructors through mass Israeli folk dance sessions in outdoor plazas, alongside contemporary and international dance performances.
Tirza Hodes and Yonatan Karmon founded the Karmiel Dance Festival in 1988 at the invitation of the city's first mayor, Baruch Wenger, with Karmon serving as artistic director for its first twelve years.
