Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations in Kingston/Nine Mile
Each February 6, Bob Marley's birthday draws visitors to two distinct sites: his birthplace and mausoleum at Nine Mile in St Ann, family-run and centered on a marble tomb in an Ethiopian-style church, and the Bob Marley Museum at 56 Hope Road in Kingston, the former Tuff Gong house where he lived and worked.
Bob Marley was born in Nine Mile, a hillside hamlet in St Ann, on February 6, 1945, and the same date each year draws visitors to his mausoleum there, an eight-foot marble tomb inside a small church built in Ethiopian Orthodox style, where his remains and a guitar are entombed.
